The new Tata Safari 2021

The SUV is based on the Harrier’s OMEGARC platform. Launched in January 2021, Tata’s flagship SUV has a single diesel engine and is available in nine variants across 6 and 7-seater configurations. There’s an Adventure Edition on offer as well, featuring the Tropical Mist colour scheme with blacked-out wheels, exterior elements in matte black/gunmetal grey, and dual-tone black-and-lightbrown upholstery. Based on the variants XZ+ and XZA+ and the Adventure Edition.

The Tata Safari is powered by an FCA-sourced 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces 170PS of power and 350Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The SUV gets only a front-wheel drivetrain but an all-wheel drive could be introduced later depending on demand.

Design

The SUV is also available in an Adventure Edition featuring a tropical green colour scheme with blacked-out wheels, matte black/gunmetal grey trim elements, and a dual-tone black-light-brown interior upholstery.

The Safari features an 8.8-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, i-RA connected car technology, a 7-inch semi-digital instrument display, cruise control, drive modes, off-road modes, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, automatic climate control, powered driver’s seat, auto dimming IRVM, and keyless entry with push-button start. Safety is taken care of by six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear disc brakes, electronic stability control, an electronic parking brake with auto hold function, tyre pressure monitor, and a rear parking camera with sensors.
